The stamp highlights a type of carpenter’s house that was common in Åland around the turn of the century 1900 and stayed in fashion until World War I. A loft with planed wood panelling was painted in light-green or light-grey oil paint, whereas the carpentered and unplaned house body was painted with red ochre. The stamp shows the manor house of the Jonesas farm in Önningeby, Jomala, one of only a few houses of this type that has been preserved in the Åland countryside today.
